Range
Rules
NOTE, The Range is CLOSED from November 30th till March 15th!
(Earlier
snow may move closure date forward, late snow may move
opening date back. (Check web site for any adjustments)
- Paper targets
only may be used on the range. NO glass, plastic, metal, or junk. No
shooting at cans, bottles, jugs etc is allowed. No shooting at target
uprights, target frames, number board posts, or other structures other
than designated targets. Use of metal targets is allowed only if the
target type has been specifically approved in advance by the board. No
shooting at the Conexes, Porta-Potties,
or any other semi permanent structure which may be present.
- No
shooting on Sunday unless it is approved by the City Council and the
board!
- No
camping or use after sunset or fires except with prior approval of the
board.
- No
shotguns, automatic weapons, or large calibers such as the 416 CheyTac or 50 BMG to be used on the ranges except by
police.
- All
shooters must remove their targets and litter, including expended brass.
- No
vehicles allowed in target impact area
- No
firing outside of designated range backstop areas is permitted.
- Cleanup
following a shooting session is mandatory. If you bring it in, take it
out. If you use practice target frames, put them away when you are done.
- No
Dumping. Take out everything you bring in.
- No ATV
or Motorcycle riding on the range.
- Scheduled
events (Competitions, work parties etc) have priority for range use.
- Range
Fee for all guests must be paid in order to use the facilities. The Club
member is responsible for collecting the daily use fee of $2.00 for each
guest. Submit these fees to the Club Treasurer.
- All
persons 16 and under must have an adult member present at all times
while shooting.
- The
range will be closed for all other uses when scheduled for a Junior
practice or competition.
- Use of
the range is at the sole risk of the user, who shall be solely responsible
for such use.
- Any
member who duplicates or loans his range key or membership card shall be
subject to expulsion.
- No
dogs are allowed on the range
- All
wildlife shall be protected on the range.
- Incendiary,
tracer, or armor piercing ammunition shall not be discharged within the
range facilities.
- Membership
cards must be conspicuously displayed when using the range. Persons, other
than Centerville Police Officers, not displaying membership cards will be
asked to show their cards or leave the range until their cards can be
presented.
- Any
person disregarding rules, or violating safety procedures or range
procedures WILL BE REMOVED FROM THE RANGE AND MAY BE EXPELLED FROM
MEMBERSHIP! MEMBERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR GUESTS.

Safety Rules
- All range
users must obey all of the safety rules and range rules at all times
- ALWAYS
keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction
- ALWAYS
keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot.
- ALWAYS
keep the gun unloaded until ready to use.
- A
Range Officer MUST BE DESIGNATED AT ALL TIMES THE RANGE IS IN USE. A Range
Officer designated by the club has full range authority! In the absence of
a designated Range Officer, the first person to arrive at the range will
be the designated Range Officer and will be responsible for enforcement of
the rules, unless the parties otherwise agree and re-designate. All
commands of the Range Officer must be obeyed immediately.
- All
firearms actions will be open or the firearms will be cased unless they
are on the line and the line is 'No longer safe'.
- Upon a
cease fire being called, immediately open the action and remove all live
rounds and cease further handling of all firearms. Do not retrieve targets
until the range officer calls 'The line is safe'. Anyone can call a cease
fire for any safety reason.
- No
horseplay, unsafe behavior, or drinking of alcohol on the range. No one
under the influence of alcohol or drugs will be allowed on the range. No
open alcoholic beverage containers will be allowed on the premises except
during Club sponsored activities as approved in advance by the board of
directors.
- Ear
and eye protection are recommended to be worn on the range at all times
during any firing.
